Snoring

One of the most common sleep problems is snoring. Your sleep impacts every element of your health. When you sleep well you look and feel better and perform at your very best. Snoring can cause loss of sleep for the snorer but especially for their bed partner or roommates(s).

What is snoring?

Snoring is a sound that occurs when the soft tissue in your upper airwav vibrates as you breathe while sleeping. It affects both men and women but men are far more likely to snore than women. Certain factors increase the risk of snoring including smoking, alcohol and smoking, and obesity. Loud snoring is also a common sign of obstructive sleep apnea.

How is snoring treated?

Oral appliance therapy is an effective treatment for both snoring and sleep apnea. An oral appliance is similar to a sports mouth guard or orthodontic retainer that is worn while sleeping. It supports the jaw to help maintain an open upper airway.
