Get to Know Katherine Grosso, DDS
Dr. Grosso says that she feels very fortunate to be part of such a skilled and cohesive team that works together to provide the best possible care and experiences for our dental patients in West Hartford and Avon. She comes to us all the way from Southlake, TX, and she looks forward to getting to know you and showing you what’s possible for your smile. Before your first visit, you can learn a little more about her below.
Originally, Dr. Grosso planned on becoming a cardiothoracic surgeon, but she ended up shadowing a periodontist while in school. She decided she liked it and thought it would be a better fit for her because she would get to work more closely with patients in addition to having a healthier work/life balance.
Dr. Grosso graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She then continued her education at the Columbia University College of Dental Medicine in New York City and received her Doctorate of Dental Surgery in 2015. After finishing dental school, she chose to attend one of the top specialty programs in the country at the University of Alabama at Birmingham to complete a three-year postgraduate residency in Periodontics.
Today, her main focus is on providing individualized and comprehensive treatment to every single patient. With dental implants being a common option these days, she feels strongly about the prevention of peri-implant diseases and was lucky enough to help publish a paper on Clinical Decision Making for Primary Peri-Implantitis Prevention.
Dr. Grosso is very interested in continuing education so she can always stay on the cutting edge of periodontal research and treatment. She attended the Pikos Institute Course on Sinus Grafting for Implant Reconstruction and a course by Dr. Istvan Urban on Horizontal and Vertical Ridge Augmentation.
Dr. Grosso and her husband, Matt, got married in New York City in 2018, and they just welcomed their baby boy Luca in March 2021. When not at the office, they love to go hiking, rock climbing, and do pretty much anything outdoors as a family.
She is also a member of the:
- American Dental Association
- Connecticut State Dental Association
- American Academy of Periodontology
- Northeastern Society of Periodontists
