Preventative Services
Dental Cleanings
Daily brushing and flossing are essential to prevent tooth decay, gum disease, pain, and infection. Your dental work will last longer with good home care and regular professional cleanings.
How Often Should I Brush My Teeth?
We recommend brushing your teeth twice a day for two minutes each session. In addition, flossing is essential to clean in between the teeth. For patients who experience difficulty flossing, there are many flossing aids available.
Dental Education
A vital part of our work is to educate our patients. A well-informed patient will be able to take an active role in their treatment and together we can accomplish a great smile! A complete oral exam, including an oral cancer screening, can help ensure you keep your smile bright and healthy. Keeping your oral health a priority will help reduce money spent on dental treatment later.
In addition to daily flossing and brushing, the absolute best way to preserve your dental health is to maintain a sensible oral hygiene regimen.

The Intraoral Camera – The Dentist’s Camera
Want to see what the dentist sees? Now you can!
The intraoral camera is a tiny digital camera that fits comfortably in your mouth and allows the doctor to show you an enlarged image of your mouth on a computer screen. The camera is located in the top of the wand and is covered with a disposable plastic sheath that keeps the procedure sterile and comfortable. This allows us to show you what’s happening in your mouth and document our findings in your digital chart in the computer.
Digital X-Rays
At Blue Back Dental we have a new digital x-ray system called CDR or Computed Dental Radiography. The CDR system offers state of the art benefits including:
- Safer — The CDR system is safer because it uses 90% less radiation than conventional x-rays.
- Faster — CDR images are available within seconds since there is no development cycle.
- Smarter — The system does not produce hazardous waste because it avoids using hazardous chemicals in the first place.
- Better — The CDR sensor sees things conventional film might miss, especially since a CDR image can be magnified up to 300 times its normal size.
NTI System – Preventing Headaches & Migraines
Do You Suffer from Tension Headaches or Migraines?
The NTI system is a FDA approved method of migraine prevention. It involves a small plastic device which is worn over your front teeth while you sleep. This device eliminates headaches by allowing your jaw to relax and reduce the intense clenching which occurs while you sleep. Please contact our office for more information on the NTI system and its many benefits.
